How do I add a shadow effect to an image in Canva?

I am trying to add a shadow effect to a photo in Canva. I have created the shape and set it as a
background using the pen tool, but when I try to add a shadow effect to the body, it will not
work. What is the best way to add a shadow effect to an image in Canva? Clipp Out Line
explains There are a few ways to do this. One way is to use the effects panel. You can drag the
shadow/glow effect into the canvas.

Create the Shadow Effect

The first step is to create the Shadow. You can create a black background. To do this:

1. Please create a new layer and fill it with Black.
2. Use the Rectangle Select Tool and select the area to which you want to apply the
   Shadow.
3. Select the Brush tool.
4. Set the brush size to 50 pixels and click on the Foreground color in the palette.
5. Select the Brush tool and click on the background color (the white area in the screenshot).
6. Draw a rectangle over the black background with the Brush tool.

Create the Shadow

In Canva, you can make a shadow for your image using the Rectangle Select Tool and the Brush
tool. You can also create the Shadow by placing a black circle on top of an image. This will
make the image darker. This will help the viewer focus on the text and image. The black process
will cause the image to stand out.

Steps to Add a Shadow in Canva

1. Open an image.
2. Click on the Rectangle Select Tool.
3. Choose Black for the color.
4. Draw a rectangle around the text or image if you want to add a shadow.
5. Click on the Background Color option.
6. Choose White for the foreground color.

Adjust the Shadow’s Opacity

You can adjust the opacity level to change the darkness of the Shadow. You can make it more or
less transparent. To change the Shadow’s opacity, click on the small dropdown arrow next to the
Shadows and Gradients icon. You can adjust the Shadow’s Opacity using the slider. Use the
slider to choose a percentage between 0 and 100. A value of 100 means that the Shadow is 100
percent transparent. A value of 0 means that the Shadow is 100 percent opaque. Make sure to
leave the background color black.

Add a Background

Create a new Canvas. Select a background image from the list. Choose the Color option from the
Background menu. Change the background color. Drag the background image to place it in the
center of the canvas. Click on the adjust button next to the Background Color icon. Choose the
Shadow option from the drop down menu. Choose the Shadow Mode option from the dropdown
menu. Choose an opacity level between 0 and 100. Click OK.

Add a Border

Around your canvas, To add a border, drag the Background Image to place it in the top left corner
of the canvas. Drag the Background Image again to put it in the bottom right corner. Next, drag
the Background Image again to put it in the top right corner. Drag the Background Image a third
time to put it in the bottom left corner. Click on the Border Color icon. Choose a color from the
dropdown menu. Click OK.

Save the Image

You can save the image either to your computer or your mobile device. If you have saved the
image to your computer, you can upload it directly from the computer to your website. You can
also send the picture to someone via email or social media. If you want to share the image via
social media, click the Share button.
